“Serrano Elementary School provides all students with a positive and challenging learning environment to foster the skills, knowledge and attitude to become responsible and productive citizens.”
Welcome to Serrano Elementary School, Home of the Eagles! I am Katherine W. Rizzo, and I consider it a privilege to be your new principal and a part of a hardworking, knowledgeable and supportive school community. Welcome to the 2016-17 school year!
This is my twenty-seventh year in the field of education having had experiences ranging from school secretary, teacher, coach, and assistant principal and principal. This is my sixteenth year as an elementary principal. I look forward with enthusiasm to the new school year, providing the highest quality education for children. My vision is to create limitless opportunities by fostering a collaborative culture whereby professionals learn in a community to empower students and truly believe that all students will be successful!
I earned my undergraduate degree from La Sierra University, attended Chapman University where I earned my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and went on to earn my Administrative Credential from Cal-State San Bernardino. I have also served as adjunct professor at Cal-Baptist University, School of Education and La Sierra University, School of Education. Most recently I joined Orange Unified School District and served as Principal at Olive Elementary for the past four years.
As an educator, I will make every effort to ensure that each child is treated with respect and is in a safe school. I believe that it is important that families and staff members work collaboratively to help students succeed. I feel without a doubt, the most successful students have family members that communicate regularly with the school. My personal mission is to ensure that students will be well equipped to impact, influence and contribute to a global society with the freedom to explore and develop their strengths. It is with great enthusiasm I join the Serrano Elementary staff and community and I am looking forward to a very successful year!
Anticipating the best!
Katherine W. Rizzo
