Cougar Bots - Victories at VEX IQ
Orange, CA – January 22, 2018 - Orange Unified is proud to announce Crescent Elementary’s Robotics teams have won more VEX IQ competitions over the weekend. The Crescent Scoring Machines won the STEM Award and took 2nd Place in Alliance/Teamwork out in Northridge. The Cougar Bots competed in Palos Verdes and swept the competition winning the STEM, Skills, and Alliance categories.
Both teams continue to compete in regional events throughout Southern California to hone their skills and prepare for the State finals this spring for which they qualify.
Coached by Crescent teacher Jennie Bond, Team 15A Crescent Scoring Machines includes students: Aston Wright, Colette Tran, Devin Williams, Keira Low, Rishi Patel, Joshua Vu, Sasha Kim, Sree Vadlamudi, Vihaan Parekh, Wesley Eltiti.
Team 15 B Cougar Bots includes students: Anish Kalluri, Ellie Nguyen, Kayal Shorey, Niyati Godha, Riley Markley, Rohaan Trivedi, Sophia Gerges, and Tanish Basu.
"We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our Teacher Advisor Mrs. Bond as well as the time contributed by our parent volunteers to support our students so they can do their best," stated Principal Shelé Tamaki. "Our strong Robotics program demonstrates 21st Century learning to increase and strengthen student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education while preparing our students to be college and career ready.”
