PORTOLA MIDDLE SCHOOL:  PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

 

Dear Portola Families, Students, and Community Members,

I am incredibly proud to be the principal here at Portola Middle School and would like to welcome all of you to the 2014-2015 school year.  My entire staff and I are dedicated to developing a partnership with our families and community to support all students in their academic success. We recognize that it truly takes a village to foster the necessary skills and characteristics in students so they can achieve their college and career goals.

As part of our commitment to providing a high-quality education, we are expanding our course offerings so students will have the opportunity to explore their interests as well as enhancing our existing programs so our students are being challenged to think critically and view learning as a discovery.  We have also expanded our technology so that all students will learn the skills necessary in the 21st Century. It is important that students receive a well-rounded education that is both rigorous and engaging.

In my 15 years of experience as an educator I have learned that the stronger the relationship between the parents and the school, the more successful the students.  I want to strongly encourage all parents to get involved, ask questions of your child about their school work, and communicate with the school as much as possible regarding your child’s progress. Together we can make a difference in your child’s achievement.
